Godwin Cutajar
Godwin (1965) started his artistic journey back in 1983, and has never stopped ever since. Between the years 1988 and 1993 Godwin lived in Rome whereby he attended two courses in conversation and art restoration. These years had an impact on both his level of art and the way he looks at the art-world. During this time he started experimenting with paintings of his self portraits, delving into a different scene of self portraits where the main aim was not simply the simplicity of portraying a true likeness but depicting a more profound way of seeing self portraits. Out of these self portraits Godwin creates three series 1. the deformed self portrait, 2. godwINU self portraits and 3. multiple self portraits. Through these series one can view the artistic capability of Godwin’s work. These works are not the typical one minute viewing works, but are the type whereby one would need time to linger and absorb each and every detail within the painting in its context portrayed by the artist himself. Godwin is currently working on a new project which will be launched during the coming years.
Godwin has successfully exhibited his works in Malta and other countries and his works can be found in Malta and aboard.
